ZALSH Launches the ?Qihang? International Young Scholars Development Program

ZALSH has launched the ?Qihang? International Young Scholars Development Program, its largest and most systematic talent-development initiative to date. The program aims to provide outstanding young life sciences researchers in the Asia-Pacific region with high-quality cross-institutional and international training opportunities.

The launch ceremony was held at the ZALSH headquarters in Hong Kong Science Park. Chairman Professor Liang Qiming, the President of Qiyuan Institute, mentor representatives, and young scholar representatives from six countries attended.

The first cohort will select 30 young scholars under the age of 38 from eight countries and regions: Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Thailand. The training cycle will last 12 months.

Selected scholars will receive one-on-one mentorship from ZALSH-appointed senior experts, short-term rotation opportunities at partner institutions, full support for at least two international academic conferences, and eligibility to apply for seed funding of up to HKD 200,000 for early-stage innovative research ideas.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in a life sciences-related field, have received the degree within the past eight years, and currently hold a formal academic or research position in the Asia-Pacific region. Applications include a CV, research proposal, two recommendation letters, and a personal statement.

ZALSH plans to develop Qihang into a leading young-scholar training brand in Asia-Pacific life sciences, expand annual intake to 50 within three years, introduce more industry partners, and build an alumni network for long-term collaboration.
